Insight to enhance higher education learning with Apple devices

Insight UK joins a £500m framework to provide Apple technologies to UK universities, students and educators

London, 4th April, 2016 – Insight UK, a global provider of intelligent technology solutions, has today announced that it has signed a framework agreement to provide universities, students and educators with Apple services and products.

The deal, worth up to £500m, has been signed with the Higher Education Purchasing Consortium Wales (HEPCW) on behalf of the Universities Apple Computing Group (UACG). Under the new agreement, Insight UK will become one of four organisations that will provide all of Apple’s products and software within higher education institutions across the UK.

“Technology has completely transformed the way in we teach and learn,” commented Jon Lang, Head of Public Sector, Insight UK. “It can help spark ideas and tap into undiscovered potential. This new framework will allow us to offer Apple products at scale, helping as many universities as possible change how they engage with the learning process.”

The new framework will see Insight UK offer both hardware and software solutions, covering Mac, iPad, iPhone, Apple TV and the full range of Apple accessories, to all members of the higher-education community in the UK. Alongside this, Insight UK will also provide its own warranty, insurance and engineering capabilities to both universities and individuals.

“As one of the leading resellers for Apple in the UK, we understand it’s not just about providing products and services,” continued Lang. “We have to ensure that once people have the technology, they are actually able to use it to their advantage. We will work hard to provide the infrastructure that allows educational establishments to use their Apple technology to its maximum potential – something we really believe will enhance the learning experience even further.”

The new deal will overhaul the way in which Apple products and software is supplied to universities. The contract, which will run for up to four years, began on the 1st April 2016.
