The client provides analytics tools and software across multiple industries in 90 countries. Its solutions are powered by open source standards and cloud computing that maximise flexibility, speed up deployment and reduce costs.
The time had come for a hardware refresh to support its changing business requirements and transformation goals.
Insight designed, built and deployed a new storage platform for the client across multiple markets and to tight deadlines.
The business now benefits from superior performance, greater cost efficiencies, and increased security and compliance.
The client needed a hardware refresh to support its changing business requirements and transformation goals.
In the US this meant data centre storage consolidation and the need to migrate from aging equipment.
The existing storage platforms were slow and had insufficient storage capacity. They also consumed too much power and were no longer suitable for the company’s ambitions.
In the UK, the migration to new technology was accompanied by a desire to consolidate multiple UK data centres into a single facility. Meanwhile, the EMEA data centre estate also needed updating.
The client wanted a new platform to incorporate the correct storage capacity, be built in close partnership with its chosen partner, and be capable of supporting the company’s diverse global workforce of more than 3,400 employees.
The client has worked with Insight on similar projects in the past and chose to partner with Insight again because of its track record in delivering data centre related projects. Insight also has significant expertise with NetApp’s product portfolio, which was the chosen technology of the client.
An initial data assessment was carried out by Insight’s team in the US to determine the scope of the project.
Insight then worked on the design, build and consultation stages of the project. A global standard solution, built on a NetApp-based storage platform, was created in close collaboration with the vendor and the client, and adopted by all regions.
As an end-to-end project, Insight’s engineers scoped the client’s requirements and performed the installation, dealing with all aspects of the equipment logistics.
The project was successfully delivered on time, meeting tight deadlines. And even when there were additions to the project, caused by circumstances beyond Insight’s control, these were absorbed into the project plan.
A key advantage of Insight’s global reach is that it ensured a smooth implementation across the US, UK and EMEA regions.
As a result, the client experienced no downtime during the upgrade as Insight brought the system live and servers were migrated across.
- The client now has a more efficient data centre estate, with a robust and reliable infrastructure.
- The successful consolidation of architecture has resulted in more power and greater capabilities with less equipment and a smaller footprint.
- Power consumption is lower while the company benefits from lower total cost of ownership (TCO).
- The performance of the company’s most demanding applications has improved, and data availability has increased.
- Security and compliance have also benefited, protecting sensitive corporate and customer information.
